The Teaching Excellence Center invites undergraduate and graduate students who love reading to form teams and join next semester’s Reading Group activity!
To provide students with more time to run their reading groups, the application period will start earlier next semester, giving each team 10 weeks to conduct their reading group.
👉 Please make good use of the self-directed learning weeks after final exams and the period before the next semester begins to form your team and plan your book list.
During this time, you may form your team and add your book selections in the system, then submit your application two weeks before the start of the 114-2 semester.
👉 Book Selection
Since the Reading Group is an activity organized by students during their free time and the execution period is only 10 weeks, please carefully consider the number of books your group can realistically finish.
If you apply for too many books and are unable to complete the reading or the reflection report, the subsidy cannot be granted.
Please check book availability in advance. When applying, you must provide detailed information about each book.
If the book is a foreign-language edition or currently out of stock and requires a long ordering time, please evaluate carefully before applying.
👉 Guidelines for Choosing Themes and Books
There are no restrictions on the theme—you may select any topic of mutual interest among team members, such as classic literature, novels (including those in foreign languages), personal growth, or other literary topics.
It is best to choose books you are genuinely interested in and confident you can finish, as this will help your reading group function smoothly.
Start with books that match your reading level and consider what you hope to learn—this will also support the writing of your reflection report.
Since the purpose of the Reading Group is to encourage extracurricular reading, textbooks and reference/technical manuals are not eligible for subsidies.
The timeline and guidelines for the 114-2 Reading Group will be announced after the semester begins.
