The NSTC is currently reviewing a draft amendment to certain provisions of the “Guidelines for Handling and Reviewing Academic Ethics Cases.”
Key points of the proposed amendments include:
- For violations of academic ethics related to NSTC-funded projects, the severity of each case will be considered individually, and stricter penalties are being proposed.
- The amendments aim to strengthen the joint responsibility of academic and research institutions.
- A new provision is proposed to explicitly prohibit individuals under suspension from serving as reviewers for NSTC-related cases during the suspension period.
- These changes are intended to address current shortcomings in penalty mechanisms such as funding recovery and suspension.
