The Ministry of Education’s Taiwan Academic Research Ethics Education Resource Center (AREE), the Center for Humanities and Social Sciences at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), and the Taiwan Association for Academic Research Ethics will jointly host an Academic Ethics Lecture on Friday, November 28, 2025.This lecture will be conducted entirely in English, with Chinese translation provided.   • Lecture Description:Visual plagiarism is one of the central challenges in art and design education, raising questions about originality, authorship, and ethical responsibility.With the rapid development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI), the boundaries of image production, reuse, and attribution have become increasingly blurred, presenting new ethical dilemmas for educators and creators alike.Drawing from her forthcoming book, A Guide to Addressing Visual Plagiarism: Ethical Insights for Artists and Designers in an AI World, Dr. Winstanley will examine the evolving forms and ethical implications of visual plagiarism and discuss controversies surrounding deepfake imagery, dataset exploitation, and the erosion of creative authorship.Through real-world cases and critical analysis, the lecture invites participants to reconsider how visual integrity can be redefined as a cornerstone of sustainable and responsible creative practice in the age of AI.
