Kun Shan University's deep-rooted USR project, "Technological Foundation, Practical Life: A Circular Economy Path to Building Community Sustainability and Resilience," is organizing the 2026 Net Zero Green Living 3D Printed Street Furniture Design Competition.
This competition uses Guantian and Qigu in Tainan as the basis for design concepts, focusing on the reuse of waste materials from agriculture, fisheries, and the photovoltaic industry. It encourages participants to integrate digital modeling, parametric design, and 3D printing technology to explore innovative applications of recycled materials in street furniture. Participants are required to use the circular material developed by this project, Oyster Shell Mortar, as the primary 3D printing material to practice the concepts of resource circulation and net zero transformation. Participants should utilize its properties, such as porosity, heat reflectivity, and lightweight nature, to develop street furniture works that combine functionality, aesthetics, and environmental benefits, jointly showcasing the innovative possibilities of circular materials and sustainable design.
