The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) of the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced the first domestic case of

Dengue fever this year on May 23.

In light of recent rising temperatures and frequent rainfall across the country, which easily trigger the breeding of

vector mosquitoes, combined with the continuous increase in imported cases, dengue prevention and control work is of the utmost urgency.

Please continuously perform regular environmental management on open spaces, vacant buildings, construction sites, and other high-risk areas under your jurisdiction. In particular, outdoor inspections must be reinforced within 48 hours after rainfall.

For common breeding sites such as cooling towers, discarded tires, gutters, roof gutters, and others, the principles of "Inspect, Dump, Clean, and Scrub" must be strictly implemented. All indoor and outdoor water-accumulating containers must be thoroughly cleared or overturned.

Continuous efforts should be made to strengthen educational campaigns on Dengue fever prevention. Furthermore, front-line personnel on duty are reminded to implement personal protective measures, such as wearing light-colored, long-sleeved clothes and pants, applying mosquito repellents approved by government authorities to exposed skin, and wearing masks, waterproof gloves, and rain boots/long boots to ensure personal safety and reduce the risk of Dengue transmission.

In response to the emergence of domestic cases, if a confirmed case occurs on campus, please cooperate with the local government to immediately activate the emergency response mechanism. This includes intensifying the elimination of environmental breeding sites and conducting emergency chemical control (spraying/fogging) in the location of the case. Additionally, the Ministry of Environment will dispatch personnel to conduct unannounced on-site audits periodically. Your active cooperation in these matters is requested.
