With summer vacation just around the corner, whether you are planning to travel abroad, participate in overseas volunteer groups, or enjoy activities locally in Taiwan,

the  Health Center would like to remind everyone that summer is the peak season for mosquito-borne vector diseases such as Dengue Fever and Chikungunya.

Please make sure to take proper personal protective measures when traveling, and practice self-health monitoring after returning to campus. Let’s work together to maintain a healthy and safe campus environment!

The HSD has compiled the following "Three Steps for Summer Epidemic Prevention" for you:

🧗‍♂️ Step 1: Essential Mosquito Prevention for Trips & Overseas Volunteering

  • Personal Protection: When participating in activities in affected areas, please wear light-colored, long-sleeved shirts and long pants.
  • Proper Insect Repellent: Please use government-approved insect repellents (containing active ingredients such as DEET, Picaridin, or IR3535).

🩺 Step 2: 14-Day Self-Health Management After Arriving/Returning to Taiwan

  • 14-Day Monitoring: Individuals returning or arriving from Dengue/Chikungunya-affected areas should conduct self-health monitoring for 14 days (the incubation period of the disease).
  • Watch for Symptoms: If you experience suspected symptoms such as fever, headache, back-of-the-eye pain (retro-orbital pain), muscle/joint pain, or skin rashes, please put on a medical mask and seek medical attention immediately.
  • Proactive Disclosure: When seeking medical care, please be sure to inform the physician of your travel and activity history (TOCC).

📱 Step 3: Campus Notification and Reporting Mechanism

  • Early Treatment & Notification: If any faculty, staff, or student on campus during the summer displays the aforementioned symptoms, please assist them in seeking medical care promptly. Additionally, please contact the Health Center or the Campus Security Center immediately to facilitate legally required infectious disease reporting and Ministry of Education school safety reporting procedures.
