- This announcement is issued in accordance with Official Letter No. 1150200726 dated July 30, 2026, from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW).
- Key points from the MOHW official letter are as follows:
- (1) Dual Vaccination Phases: Starting October 1, 2026, the COVID-19 vaccine and the seasonal influenza vaccine will be offered simultaneously in two phases. Eligible groups for the COVID-19 vaccine include:
- Phase 1 (Starting October 1, 2026):
- Adults aged 65 and older.
- Indigenous individuals aged 55 and older.
- Residents/care recipients and staff of nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and related services.
- Pregnant women.
- High-risk individuals aged 6 months and older, including those eligible for government-funded flu vaccines (high-risk chronic disease patients, individuals with BMI ≥ 30, rare disease patients, and catastrophic illness patients), as well as individuals with tuberculosis, disabilities (ADHD, cerebral palsy, congenital defects, developmental or learning disabilities, spinal cord injury), mental health conditions (mood disorders, schizophrenia), and dementia.
- Healthcare and epidemic prevention personnel.
- Staff at kindergartens and child care centers, and home-based caregivers (babysitters/nannies).
- Parents or primary caregivers of infants under 6 months of age.
- Infants/children aged 6 months to under 6 years who have never received any COVID-19 vaccine.
- Phase 2 (Starting November 2, 2026):
- Adults aged 50–64 without high-risk conditions.
- Phase 1 (Starting October 1, 2026):
- (2) Vaccine Safety & Efficacy: Please promote the importance and protective benefits of vaccination. The new-generation COVID-19 vaccine contains only 1/5 of the antigen dosage compared to current vaccines, and evidence demonstrates a lower incidence of post-vaccination adverse reactions.
- (3) Group Vaccination Services: It is recommended to collaborate with local health bureaus (or health stations) to arrange group vaccination services at workplaces, schools, and institutions.
