- This announcement is issued in accordance with Official Letter No. 1150200820 dated August 17, 2026, from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW).
- According to surveillance data from the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the domestic COVID-19 epidemic entered a peak period in mid-July 2026, reaching its height in mid-August and expected to persist through the start of the semester in September and into early October. Children and adolescents have shown a relatively higher increase in medical visit rates for COVID-19 recently. Therefore, all schools are requested to strengthen the following epidemic prevention measures:
- (1) Promote Self-Care & Hygiene Habits: Reinforce correct self-prevention concepts, hand hygiene, and respiratory etiquette. Maintain cleanliness and proper ventilation in classrooms.
- (2) Provide Proper Handwashing Facilities: Ensure handwashing areas are equipped with clean water, soap, or liquid hand soap, and post clear instructional posters on proper handwashing techniques.
- (3) Monitor Student Health: Pay close attention to students' health status. Individuals with respiratory symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, or sore throat are advised to wear a mask, seek medical attention promptly, and rest at home as much as possible. In the event of a suspected cluster infection, report to health authorities immediately in accordance with regulations and implement control measures without delay.
- Additionally, according to a Taiwan CDC press release dated August 4, 2026, global mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue fever remain active, with rising cases in neighboring Southeast Asian countries, thereby increasing the risk of imported infections. Meteorological forecasts also indicate that the El Niño phenomenon may further strengthen in the coming months, creating conditions favorable for Dengue transmission. Please implement the following campus prevention measures strictly:
- (1) Regular Inspections & Elimination of Breeding Sites: In accordance with the school's Dengue Prevention Plan, designated area managers must conduct routine campus inspections before the semester starts. Focus on the four key steps: Inspect, Pour, Clean, and Scrub to remove standing water containers, and conduct follow-up inspections within 48 hours after rain.
- (2) Training & Awareness Promotion: Utilize orientation programs and campus-wide events to conduct environmental inspection education and promote prevention methods through multiple channels. Hold briefing sessions regularly for area managers, inspectors, and outsourced cleaning staff to enhance epidemic prevention knowledge among faculty, staff, and students.
- (3) Health Monitoring for International Travelers: Faculty, staff, and students returning from Dengue-endemic regions should monitor their health for 14 days post-entry. If suspected Dengue symptoms occur (e.g., fever, headache, retro-orbital pain, muscle/joint pain, skin rash), seek medical attention immediately and report your health status. Schools may establish a health reporting mechanism to track the health of individuals returning from abroad.
